The Electronics Hardware Design Quality Engineer is responsible for quality aspects of electronics hardware design & development process.
In this position, the successful candidate will work with hardware electronics designers who are developing leading edge electronic systems for a wide variety of applications. The candidate will analyze current hardware design methodologies and simulations and seek to improve the hardware design capability of Whirlpool Electronics.
The results of these activities will be improved hardware quality, lower cost, reduced cycle time and provide higher levels of customer satisfaction. These goals will be achieved through close monitoring of key quality metrics including validation & reliability testing results, product launch quality metrics and field warranty data and analysis.
What You Will Do Drive continuous improvement in the electronics design & development process Integrate electronic design process improvements into the Quality System Drive global compliance to electronics design & development processes Develop and improve existing hardware quality assurance and control processes Assure design for Assembly, Manufacturing and Reliability throughout the design & development process Ensure translation into design rules/guidelines and design & development process improvements through design capability analysis and lessons learned Manage the design & development corrective action process Facilitate the use of quality tools (DFA/M/R, DFMEA, DOE, DFSS, 8D, etc) in the design & development process Participate in projects to reduce client's Total Cost of Quality (TCQ) for electronics
Requirements
What You Need To Succeed
B.S. in Electrical Engineering 8+ years experience working in Hardware Electronics Design Experience with PSpice analysis, Mentor DxDesigner or other high level simulation tools Advanced understanding of embedded systems development and deployment with significant complex software content Commercial, automotive and/or industrial electronics design & quality experience Design for Six Sigma experience desired Good communication skills needed to build credibility and to be a critical change agent Key characteristics: Big picture thinker, process oriented, metrics driven Outstanding people skills, with the specific ability to interact as a lead player Strong analytical problem solving skills and exceptional multi-tasking ability Passion for creating robust designs that consistently meet customer needs and desires Ability to analyze a problem and propose solutions in a constructive fact-based way Experience using engineering change system.
